MODERN TEMPORARY STRUCTURES COULD BE SOLUTION TO CLASSROOM CRISIS

Rising birth rates is one factor being blamed for a shortage of places in England's primary schools. London and the West Midlands has been hardest hit, with the government expected to announce an extra £200m in funding to provide new primary school places.

According to the National Union of Teachers, too many schools were closed when the birth rate was falling, meaning there is now no capacity in the system.

This problem is affecting schools in both the public and private sector, and in an effort to control the crisis, schools in the worst hit areas have drawn up emergency plans to provide extra classroom space.

One forward thinking school to take the initiative was the Milbourne Lodge Junior School in Esher, Surrey. Facing a shortage of classroom space, the then head teacher began the search for comfortable and modern facilities that would meet the needs of her pupils.

Haunted by memories of cold and unpleasant portable cabins, she initially dismissed temporary classrooms as a thing of the past. This all changed during a shopping trip to a Sainsbury's supermarket, where she stumbled across an installation by Accio Group, one of the UK's leading suppliers of temporary structure solutions.

So impressed with the comfort and quality of the installation at Sainsbury's, she contacted Accio Group and enquired about the possibility of supplying her school with a temporary classroom. Accio Group then set to work on designing a bright, comfortable and modern space that would encourage her pupils to learn.

The classroom was used by five and six year old children for a total of 11 months, and during this time there was not a single fault with the structure or ancillary services delivered by Accio Group. The head teacher was so pleased with the quality of the structure she wanted to buy and use it permanently.

This has led Accio Group to develop its portfolio to include a range of structures suitable for permanent installation. Similar to its temporary structure solutions, a permanent structure from Accio Group can also be delivered with full ancillary support and facilities management.

Stephen Casey, Managing Director at Accio Group added: "This project presented a unique set of challenges, particularly with accessibility and safety. My team overcame these challenges and we feel the structure speaks for itself, who would not want to take their classes in there!

"I am delighted that the school was so pleased with our service and Accio Group will be happy to assist them with any future space issues that arise."

Accio Group are also experts in installing and maintaining temporary accommodation, cafés, classrooms, disaster relief, emergency facilities for banks and businesses, emergency medical facilities, support facilities, temporary supermarkets and weather protection as well as offering a bespoke service for clients who require a one-off project.

In addition, Accio Group can also supply all the vital ancillary services required to complete a project, including air conditioning, CCTV, facilities management, lighting, power distribution, refrigeration units and sanitation.

And you know you will be in safe hands thanks to the impressive client list boasted by Accio Group. They have provided temporary structure solutions for large multi-national companies including Emap, Land Rover, Nissan, RBS, Sainsbury's, Tesco, Thomas Cook, Toyota and UKTV.
